YOUR FIRST JOB SHOULDN'T START WITH A COMPLICATED SIGN-UP.
Rethinking Naukri's mobile onboarding to make the first step into job searching clearer, more guided and less overwhelming.
The problem
New job seekers face lengthy forms, unclear progress and profile requirements before discovering enough relevant opportunities.
The proposed solution
A guided onboarding journey with clearer progress, simplified entry points and earlier job discovery.
WHY DOES GETTING STARTED FEEL SO HARD?
I explored onboarding frustrations through a 29-response survey and a review of competing job-search platforms. Three findings helped establish the priorities for the redesign.
Show value before asking for commitment.
The research suggested a need for clearer expectations, manageable form steps and more flexible sign-in. Competitor review highlighted approaches such as social login and fresher-focused onboarding.
Unclear progress
Didn't know when sign-up would finish.
Information overload
Found too many fields at once frustrating.
Simpler access
Wanted Google or LinkedIn sign-in.

FROM INSIGHTS TO INTERACTIONS.
Instead of treating onboarding as one long form, I explored a more progressive journey in which users receive guidance at each stage.
Unclear onboarding progress
A visible step-by-step progress indicator.
Too much information upfront
Smaller, guided profile-building steps.
Difficult first-time entry
Social sign-in and earlier job discovery.
01 / EARLY EXPLORATIONS
02 / STRUCTURING THE FLOW
A CLEARER WAY TO GET STARTED.
The proposed experience combines early opportunity discovery, flexible sign-in, guided profile creation and clearer feedback about the remaining steps.
Explore opportunities before completing a full profile.
Use visible progress to clarify the journey.
Build a profile through smaller, focused steps.
DON'T JUST LOOK. EXPLORE IT.

What this project taught me
Good onboarding is not just about collecting information. It's about helping people understand where they are, what comes next and why continuing is worthwhile.
What I'd explore next
I would conduct usability testing with first-time job seekers, observe where they hesitate and refine the flow using task-completion feedback.
